1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #430 - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #430

- Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

(Here at last - the mighty Victoria Falls! It is a destination that has been on hubby's mind for a while, and only after a day's worth of flights from Capetown to this small town called Victoria Falls itself in Zimbabwe, via Johannesburg, did we land on the right airport. But what a terrific reward at the end - the Victoria Falls is the single biggest curtain of falling water in the world - almost 2000m wide. The roar is loud - Mosi-oa-tunya ,"the smoke that thunders" is Victoria Falls in their local language - and the water mist rises so high it soaks all who are near it. See that double rainbow at the bridge that separates Zimbabwe from Zambia? It deservedly is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world! The original-7, not the new-7, mind you. Just listen to the roar in the video below - one at the Devil's Cataract, the other, the huge MainFalls)
